Los nahuales tienen diversas representaciones y acepciones en Latinoamérica, dependiendo de la región a la que se haga referencia. En el centro de México, según la cosmogonía prehispánica y los aztecas, al nacer una persona también nace un animal que se convierte en su protector y guía. A este animal se le conoce como tonalli o toná. La persona y su tonalli comparten sentimientos, alma y destino, y cuando la persona muere, su toná también lo hace. Si la conexión entre la persona y su espíritu „natural“ o „animal“ es fuerte, la persona podría transformarse en él o ella. A estas personas se les conoce como nahuales, seres duales que pueden ser mujer-hombre/animal, mujer-hombre/naturaleza, mujer-hombre/bondad o maldad, mujer-hombre/salud o muerte, entre otros.

En la filosofía Maya, los humanos, la naturaleza y el tiempo están interconectados y forman un sistema vivo que es el Cosmos. Por esta razón, es importante para cada persona conocer su Nahual, ya que este le permitirá encauzar su vida de la mejor manera posible y potencializar sus habilidades.

Los nahuales han sido compañeros del ser humano desde siempre, y se pueden encontrar en muchas culturas con diferentes nombres, poderes e imágenes, pero con las mismas funciones.

A través de la Asociación „Proyectos de Luz“, agrupación libre de artistas nacionales e internacionales, radicados en diversos países de Europa y en varias ciudades de México y lidereada por su fundadora Sonia Siblik, mexicana, y cuyo objetivo es unificar a través del arte, promoviendo todas las formas artísticas por igual ha sido realizado el festival. Su enfoque es organizar festivales de arte en lugar de simples exposiciones. Brindandole así una plataforma concreta a los artistas.

En su trabajo como curadora a tenido la oportunidad de trabajar con la Embajada de México en Viena, en especial, con su Instituto Cultural, en donde funge como curadora y lugar en el cual toma lugar la exposición.

El festival fue inaugurado por el Sr. Embajador de México en Austria Luis Javier Campuzano Piña.

Nahuales haben verschiedene Darstellungen und Bedeutungen in Lateinamerika, je nach Region, auf die Bezug genommen wird. Im Zentrum Mexikos, gemäß der prähispanischen Kosmogonie und den Azteken, wird bei der Geburt einer Person auch ein Tier geboren, das zu ihrem Schutz und Führer wird. Dieses Tier wird als Tonalli oder Toná bezeichnet. Die Person und ihr Tonalli teilen Gefühle, Seele und Schicksal, und wenn die Person stirbt, stirbt auch ihr Toná. Wenn die Verbindung zwischen der Person und ihrem „natürlichen“ oder „tierischen“ Geist stark ist, könnte sich die Person in ihn oder sie verwandeln. Diese Personen werden als Nahuales bezeichnet, duale Wesen, die Frau-Mann/Tier, Frau-Mann/Natur, Frau-Mann/Güte oder Bosheit, Frau-Mann/Gesundheit oder Tod und andere sein können.

In der Philosophie der Maya sind Mensch, Natur und Zeit miteinander verbunden und bilden ein lebendiges System, das das Kosmos ist. Aus diesem Grund ist es für jede Person wichtig, ihren Nahual zu kennen, da er es ihr ermöglicht, ihr Leben bestmöglich zu gestalten und ihre Fähigkeiten zu maximieren.

Nahuales sind seit jeher Begleiter des Menschen und können in vielen Kulturen mit unterschiedlichen Namen, Kräften und Bildern, aber mit denselben Funktionen gefunden werden.

Über die Asociación „Proyectos de Luz“, eine freie Gruppe von nationalen und internationalen Künstlern, die in verschiedenen Städten Europas und in mehreren Städten Mexikos ansässig sind und von ihrer Gründerin Sonia Siblik, einer Mexikanerin, geleitet werden, deren Ziel es ist, durch Kunst zu vereinen und alle künstlerischen Formen gleichzeitig zu fördern, wurde das Festival durchgeführt. Ihr Fokus liegt darauf, Kunstfestivals anstelle von einfachen Ausstellungen zu organisieren und so den Künstlern eine konkrete Plattform zu bieten.

Bei ihrer Arbeit als Kuratorin hatte sie die Möglichkeit, mit der Botschaft von Mexiko in Wien und insbesondere mit ihrem Kulturinstitut zusammenzuarbeiten, wo die Ausstellung stattfindet.

Das Festival wurde vom mexikanischen Botschafter in Österreich, Luis Javier Campuzano Piña, eröffnet.

Nahuales have various representations and meanings in Latin America, depending on the region being referred to. In her work as a curator, she has had the opportunity to work with the Mexican Embassy in Vienna, especially with its Cultural Institute, where she acts as a curator and where the exhibition takes place.
